you wanna know the story how I started really flowing
We gotta take it back to when my name was Willy Owen
See I was so clever I put two and two together
And taught myself to read when I recognized the letters

The letters made the words that the people always said
I had those words recorded deep inside my head
When I saw the words. I knew just what to do
While all the other toddlers didn’t have a fucking clue

I’m not being arrogant I’m only being honest
never missed a single word on any spelling contest
In kindergarten I felt pretty damn invincible
Because I punched a bully and he ran and told the principal

I had some type of feeling it’s really hard denying
He was acting so tough until he started crying
This big old second grader man really made a statement
tried to punk me for my lunch I didn’t let him take it



Now we’re bout to move on to another chapter
and take it to the time when I knew I was a rapper.
This is going way back into the early 80s
meats and potatoes and weren’t about the gravy' s

I remember Run and D (the) MC’s before those
yeah we loved The Message but couldn’t get the wardrobes
we understood the outfits we just couldn’t afford clothes
My bedroom was the closet floor with the door closed.

I’d try to make a mixtape But couldn’t change the order
All I had for music was a plastic tape recorder
I’m sure the quality had to be shitty and old
Because I recorded the songs off of Video Soul

So I would take these mixtapes don’t forget the air quotes
And trade them with my Homies for tapes they got from their folks
Then I got a Walkman and a pair of headphones
I was bumpin Ladi Dadi with levels in the red zone





I discovered hip-hop about the time it found me.
all the shit they talk about is going on around me
Then became the point where all I want to do is
Step off all alone and listen to some music.

I guess the only thing that I’m really trying to say
is that it made me feel in some special kinda way
So as I got older I didn’t want to chance it
any stereo I got the plot was to enhance it.

If it had some bass then I’m bumping it like fuck it
Because I got an amp and house speakers in the bucket
I’m only spitting 16 otherwise I’d name the artists
I think you get the point though it’s all the same regardless

I said I’d be a rapper they thought it was hilarious
didn’t understand about my heart within these areas
Used to have an eight bit sampler kit to start out
Now it’s International every time I put some art out
