about

This song covers my childhood and teenage years into my early years as an emcee and somewhat what it was like growing up as me. It mentions some of the artist I grew up listening to in a poetic fashion.
As far as as the album goes, this track represents that same old feeling of "keep doing the same thing keep getting the same results" AGAIN. It also represents the potential for all hope to be lost.

lyrics

I’m more than 40 picture me as a Shorty
clothes are just hand me Downs none of it sporty.
my dad‘s work friends kids grew up in the 60s
the shit they would give me doesn’t fit they don’t get me.

Plus I ain’t making friends get in fights and don’t make amends.
My Homies havin a seizure gotta wait til the shakin’ ends
Taking it way back ain’t shy when I say that
Up in the bricks with Richard Pryor on eight track

The lessons I’ve learned ain’t forgot probably any
look at all these roacheswithout Bobby Jimmy
At the Rivers edge without Crispin Glover.
a freakoholic just like the Egyptian Lover.

I knew what I wanted make em pause like run did
Have adventures like Slick Rick and look what I done did
Bullies can’t put me down
Once I Hard boogie down
I wanna go to the pros and not have that rookie sound

Back in the day it wasn’t rare if you dance
Everywhere that I glance
parachute pants.
Standing there in a stance there was romance
in knowing spot blowing shows. there was a chance

to go from Breaking on cardboard
to making it art more
that’s how i got heart more
and turned out more hard-core
I’m not a guru. to earn it was hard more
What did I start for? the point like a dartboard

it always felt like it was something more serious
Like what your tribe called and how low-end your theory is
The nearest lyricist hearing this will be a conspiracist
Leering in the mirror and sneering at how clear it is.

This is Chicago I don’t know what you think
the first rhymes that I wrote are old enough to drink
If you feel disrespect by doing my thing kid
I’m just protecting my neck like Wu-Tang did

All that I need is a boombox and Adidas
Can’t be defeated with a rhyme and a beat it’s
Like the heat had almost succeeded indeed it’s
Ingredients that never retreated somehow reverse and delete it.

Set ablaze cheddar ways headed to better days
Every letter slays hip-hop forever plays.
The fact that they’re takin’ and actors just fakin’
Every batch that I’m makin’ is for scratching And breakin’

Grew up in the 80s knew nothing but crazies
If your crew’s up to play me they’re blew up and Swayze
A wolf in sheep’s clothing it’s time I brought it out
A Basket Case like masta ace up inside the slaughtahouse

These days they destroyed the DJs and B-boys
erased the street noise Replaced with the decoys
I ain’t makin the charts and It ain’t breaking my heart.
You can’t take it apart. it’s straight from the heart.
